Well, Mrs. Buckler and I finished Ozark, season three. All I can say is, “Wow! That ending!” Yes, I know this makes me sound like nearly all of my Facebook friends, but it’s true. It ended on a shocking cliffhanger that has me itching for a fourth season already. I mean, I know what happened but now I need to know why it happened the way that it did. I might not know the motivations behind the Ozark ending, but I’m sure of one thing: Stuart Sweet makes some silly decisions at times. Like this one…
…He Cancelled Netflix!
That’s right. On Monday, he informed me that he pulled the plug on this streaming service provider. I didn’t bother to ask him why because I’m sure he’ll tell us on this blog. He seems so full of advice these days, and some of it is actually worthwhile. I point to his work from home tips as a good example of that. But the wisdom he shared that time could be the proverbial case of a broken clock being right twice a day.
If I know Stuart, he’s already working on a preachy comeback to this post. In it, he’ll lecture me about how streaming is a waste of my time these days. He’ll probably say I should appreciate my family and my job, and take long walks in the woods to reconnect with nature. Now that I think about it, he’ll probably do it all in a podcast instead of sparing me from that preachy tone of his.
This is the Time for Streaming
Stuart doesn’t realize that I appreciate my family and I’m grateful to still be working. And as far as nature goes, I guarantee you I spend more time out there than he does. Over the weekend, I walked the “back 40,” checked my tree stands, and even caught some bluegills from the pond. (Don’t worry, I let ’em go.) I can do all of those things and still have time to stream my favorite shows.
This is why canceling Netflix, at least right now, would be the worst thing for me. I would’ve missed the amazing third season of Ozark. After watching it through to the end, I can double down on what I said last week. “Stubborn Stuart” is wrong about this Netflix original series. It really is an engrossing drama and even better character study. That he can’t see that says more about him than it does about this Netflix original.
There are other reasons why it’s a bad idea to cancel Netflix now. What about the fourth season of Stranger Things? Anyone who reads Streaming Saturday is well aware of my love affair with that show. That means I’m going to watch it until the Duffer Brothers have nothing more to offer. Plus, who knows what new series and shows I’d miss out on if I pulled the plug now?
Stuart Did One Thing Right …
…He kept HBO Go. As much as I enjoy other streaming services, this is my favorite streaming service. There are so many great shows available on HBO and the offerings keep getting better. Mrs. Buckler and I loved loved loved Steven King’s The Outsider. Now, we’re watching the fourth season of Insecure with Issa Rae. It’s a great show and it’s delivered in a weekly format instead of being available for bingewatching. This gives us something to look forward to every Sunday night.
What About You, Streamers?
Stuart and I will never stop arguing about which shows are the best to stream. I’m also not going to stop streaming any time soon. But what about you? How do you feel about this? And what are some of your favorite shows? Let me know in the comments section.
